Mr. Book just finished Baseball’s Bizarre Season: Recollections Of 1964, by Bill Brown.
This book was published in January 2024.
The book purports to be about the 1964 baseball season. I’ve read books on that topic and I see no evidence to believe this is one of them. I converted the book to PDF, to read on my ipad, and made it through the first 50 pages, out of 234. About 90% of what I’ve read has nothing to do with baseball. There is Kennedy assassination, the author’s high school football team, the day that he was a witness to a bank robbery and other random items that all only had one thing in common—they weren’t about baseball. At that point, I gave up.
This is the fifth book that I’ve read by this author. Prior to this, he had one B+, two B’s and a D. I may have continued a little more on the book, but when I checked my records and saw that he had already written a D, I decided it wasn’t worth the time to continue.
I give this book an F.
Goodreads requires grades on a 1-5 star system. In my personal conversion system, an F equates to 1 star. (A or A+: 5 stars, B+: 4 stars, B: 3 stars, C: 2 stars, D or F: 1 star).
